Grade 12: Social Justice Symposium
The social justice symposium last week was a powerful event where you saw three speakers talk about their own experiences with genocide. The first two speakers were survivors of the holocaust and the last was a survivor of the genocide in Rwanda.
Discussion
1. Their stories were disturbing yet also hopeful and contained powerful images. Respond with a comment to this entry what image was the most powerful for you and why.
Or
2. At the end of the symposium Christian, the Rwandan genocide survivor, challenged us to extend our thinking to the context of our own lives and connected bullying to the themes of the symposium. Answer one of the following questions:
i) Do you agree with this connection and why?
ii) Can you find another connection to our own lives here in Creston and explain?
iii) Do you think bullying is a problem that needs to be dealt with at our school? Why?
